Planting Impatiens in Pots
Step 1 – Choose the Perfect Pot
When it comes to planting Impatiens in pots, the ideal container should have good drainage, as these flowers need a good amount of water. Choose a pot that is 6-12 inches in diameter, with holes in the bottom to ensure the soil will not get overly saturated. If you would rather buy Impatiens seedlings from a garden center, fill the pot two-thirds full of soil and place the seedlings carefully in the pot, making sure to spread them evenly. Gently pat down the soil around the seedlings.
Step 4 – Water Carefully
Impatiens need a lot of water, but should not be over-watered. Water the soil until it is moist, but not soggy, and avoid splashing the flowers, as this can cause them to become water-logged. It’s a good idea to water from the bottom – place the pot in a shallow basin of water until it is soaked through, and then discard any remaining water.

Make sure to place the pot in a location that receives plenty of bright, indirect sunlight. Avoid hot, direct sunlight, as this can scorch the petals and leaves of Impatiens.
