Is Pot Legal in South Carolina?
Chances are you know that the answer to this question is “no”. Even though cannabis has been legalized in some states, South Carolina is one of the few that denies legal access to marijuana at this time. However, the law isn’t completely cut and dry.

The recreational use of marijuana is still illegal in South Carolina. Possession of any amount of the drug, even a small personal use quantity, will result in a criminal charge and potentially hefty fines and prison time.

South Carolina is in the process of bringing some changes to the laws regarding medical marijuana. The passing of the South Carolina Compassionate Care Act in 2019 allowed for physicians to be able to recommend the use of medicinal cannabis products for certain qualifying conditions. However, purchase and possession of these products is still not allowed under state law.
